What is a Good Faith Estimate?

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. Do You Accept Out-of-Network Insurance Clients?

If you are covered by an insurance company that I am not contracted with, I can still give you a superbill, which is a receipt for services that you can submit on your own to your insurance company for reimbursement. Be sure to check with your insurance company to see what they cover for out-of-network services.

What are Your Payment and Cancellation Policies?

Private Pay Clients: Your credit card will be kept securely on-file, and will be charged on the date of appointment. Insurance Clients: I use an intermediary company called Alma to handle all insurance verification, billing, and copayments. Alma makes it very easy for my clients to pay copayments online via Auto-Pay by credit card. Cancellation: I require clients to contact me with at least 24 hours notice to cancel an appointment. Late cancellations may be charged a fee.

How Does Online Teletherapy Work?

I use a secure version of Zoom for all online teletherapy appointments. If your computer or phone has a camera and microphone, you are good to go. I’ll send you a link; all you have to do is click on the link to join our sessions. Online teletherapy is convenient, and will help you to save valuable time and gas money by avoiding driving to and from appointments. Teletherapy can be done from anywhere you have private space to attend our online session, as long as you are in the state of California. See the Online Teletherapy section for more information.
